Frequently Asked Questions

How much of my donation will go to purchasing gift cards?2020-04-11T08:44:20+00:00

100% of donations will go toward the purchase of restaurant gift cards. We currently have a few volunteers donating their time to make this process work, but we can always use more help!  Please email us at admin@fooditforwardgv.org if you want to help.

I don’t see where I get to select the restaurant I want to support.2020-04-11T08:39:31+00:00

You’ll select the restaurant(s) you want to support during the checkout process. After you hit “Donate,” (Does the comma go before or after the quotes?) you’ll be asked to select an amount and a payment method. On the next page, there will be a “Note” section. Please write the restaurant you’d like to support in that section. We will make every effort to accommodate your preferences!

What will you do with the gift cards once they’ve been purchased?2020-04-11T08:39:54+00:00

We will be working with a couple of local organizations – such as food pantries – who provide services for Great Valley individuals and families in need. Eventually, we hope to expand our platform to service front-line responders. Our sister division from TE is already serving Paoli Hospital. The goal is to put the gift cards back into our community and surrounding areas.

Is my donation tax deductible?2020-04-11T08:41:10+00:00

The initial chapter of Food It Forward (organized under Kendal’ls Crusade) is a 501(c)(3) organization. Because this Great Valley chapter is affiliated with Kendall’s Crusade, and because your donation is a charitable gift made through “Go Fund Me,” your donation may be tax deductible. But, we are not accounting or finance professionals, so please check with your accountant. Each individual may have a different charitable threshold. Additionally, we do not provide records, accounting or paperwork other than the receipt generated through Go Fund Me. You will not receive a receipt from a 501(c).

I’m a local restaurant owner. How do I get my restaurant on the list?2020-04-11T08:41:43+00:00

Great, please email us at admin@fooditforwardgv.org and we’ll get you set up on the site if your establishment meets our program’s location and gift card requirements.

I’m confused. What is Kendall’s Crusade and how can I be sure my donation is going to Food it Forward?2020-04-11T08:42:34+00:00

Kendall’s Crusade, Inc is a registered 501(c)(3) based in Wayne, PA. The Foundation was established to assist the medical community and patients impacted by a condition called AVM, as well as raise awareness about the condition. During this time of crisis, the foundation is using its reach to give back to the local community. In an effort to make the mission more relatable as it’s shared (in) throughout the community, we created the name Food it Forward. Food it Forward is NOT a registered 501(c)(3). For this reason, you’re making your donation to Kendall’s Crusade and your receipt will be from Kendall’s Crusade, but your donation is going to the Food it Forward campaign. If you learn a little bit about AVM by visiting our home page in the process, great.

What if I have a favorite restaurant, I’d like to support but they’re not on the list?2020-04-11T08:42:56+00:00

We’re trying to help those within our own Great Valley community and are happy to take suggestions!  Feel free to email your suggestions to admin@fooditforwardgv.org.

What if I don’t pick any restaurants and would just like to donate?2020-04-11T08:43:18+00:00

No problem, we’ll pick for you. 100% of your donation will still go to purchasing restaurant gift cards.

What if we want the gift cards donated to our church/organization that also serves the local community?2020-04-11T08:43:38+00:00

We wanted to get the project off the ground as quickly as possible. At the moment we’re focusing on supporting locally based food pantries, particularly those that provide assistance to Great Valley individuals and families. We are open to suggestions, but we are currently a small army of volunteers trying to do the right thing, so please be patient if we can’t fulfill your request to donate elsewhere right away. With the new shelter-in-place rules, we have some limitations.

*We are a small group of volunteers during a challenging and unprecedented time.  Although our goal is to promote local restaurants with hopes that none of them have to close their doors, we cannot alone sustain any business.  We will, of course, do our best to provide you with another gift card if the ones you receive cannot be honored, but we cannot be held responsible for the operational decisions of any participating business.  Additionally, individuals and/or companies making donations to Food It Forward GV through our Go Fund Me account do so as a gesture of good will and kindness.  We cannot guarantee that any donation is tax deductible.  We will not provide records or receipts other than those received through Go Fund Me itself.  We will, however, promise to donate 100% of all collected funds to those in need in the Great Valley community.  Expenses incurred in establishing and maintaining this organization are born by our volunteers and organizers.  Your donations will not be used for that purpose.
